I just wanted to write you to thank you for the best stay ever. My wife and I were celebrating 25 years together, and everything at Harmony exceeded our expectations - the bungalow, the awesome dining, the beautiful grounds and pool, Guiones beach, but most of all the staff. I worked several years in the hospitality business and have been to many places which pride themselves in superior guest service, but none of them compare to the quality, top notch friendly atmosphere at Harmony. The outstanding service started before we even arrived at Harmony. First, reservations and correspondence was easy and efficient. Next, I was blown away when I received a phone call from Alexander via Kendall, our driverwhile driving to Guiones from Liberia. Alexander asked if we were hungry and would have some food brought to our room for our arrival. The beautiful chicken sandwiches prepared by your kitchen were a welcome treat after a day of airline snacks. Thank you Alexander and Harmony kitchen! Our accommodations were just fantastic! We loved everything about our bungalow. We felt like it had always been our own personal space. What we loved most about Harmony was its staff, which we will no longer refer to as 'staff', but now consider our friends. Great conversation and tasty tropical drinks with Anthony, John and Manfred. Great times in the dining area with David and Bolivar. Everyone was willing to help us learn Tico Spanish and at the same time converse in English, teaching us about their culture and personal interests. Alexander, Samuel, Alfredo, Jose and Giselle were always happy to help us in any way, mostly making us feel welcome as if we had been to the Harmony many times before. Julie runs a great kitchen -- we loved the healthy, super-fresh top quality food. Muy bueno! A highlight of our trip for me was going to watch the guys play football on the 5 v 5 pitch in Nosara town. That was so personal and I was able to meet some more of your team from the back of the house. Hanging out with my new friends, telling stories and having some laughs was really great. I really appreciated being included in their personal time. Next time we will do the sustainability tour and hopefully meet some more of the back of the house team. There are names I probably didn't mention, but I will say that anyone I came in contact with at Harmony impressed me very much. You have a top notch team who respect one another and that really delivers a wonderful experience to its guests. Thank you so much for our wonderful vacation in Guiones! Everyone was so kind and caring to us and our guests. All of our guests staying at your hotel had nothing but nice things to say about it. You and your staff went out of your way to make sure that all guests were happy! Our wedding was amazing and it was with your help and your staff. Everything was perfect. All of the food was so good and all the guests were talking about it the next day. We were so impressed by the food and how well it was prepared. The food and drinks on the beach were amazing. The Harmony was fantastic. Great location, delicious food, seriously amazing staff. I took lessons from Nosara Tico Surf. They were great. It's a small shop right next to the hotel and the instructors were super friendly and good. For someone who's thinking of coming to Harmony, here's my take. First, Costa Rica is a third world country. Liberia airport is 2.5 hrs from Nosara. There isn't a paved road within an hour of Nosara, and the dirt roads are in really bad condition. The Harmony is in Playa Guiyones (sp?), which is the surf town next to Nosara. All about surfing and yoga. There's no beachfront development which means the beach is a gorgeous long flat crescent with spectacular waves and remarkably uncrowded. There's a nice mini market, yummy roadside fish taco stand, and a handful of restaurants, shops, hotels and hostels. The Harmony has bikes you can use, but you really need a car or an ATV if you want to see more than just Guiyones (rent from Cafe de Paris, bakery/hotel up the street from Harmony). The Harmony is as close to the beach as possible (my room was 4 min away) and has a guarded hut on the beach for your towels and valuables. (lots of guards in Nosara - gas station even had an armed guard, but I felt completely safe whole time). There's complementary daily yoga, great massages, and an organic garden which stocks the kitchen, juice bar and restaurant bar. Howler monkeys cruise the trees in the neighborhood, and I heard them most mornings or evenings. The songbirds woke me up with the dawn. And while mornings often smelled of fresh cut basil from the garden, at night the place smells deliciously of brown sugar. Guests were mostly Americans - half families with kids, half surfer/yogi groups. Things worth doing are driving into Nosara for dinner at Rancho Tico. Nosara is a poor town, and Rancho Tico has chain link fences for walls, but the food is delicious and the staff is friendly. Sunset drinks at La Luna is a must. I didn't stay for dinner, but the all white beach front terrace with tasseled parasols and deep sofas for lounging should be a T&L cover shoot. Miss Sky Canopy Tours was a great day of zip lining. While the zip lines and scenery are beyond breathtaking, the staff was what really made the experience - giddily cajoling laughter out of even the most dour participants. I just wanted to express my appreciation to the entire staff at HH. My wife and spent a week there in early March - it was our second visit, and we enjoyed it as much (if not more) than the first time. We just arrived home back from in Canada. We’d like to say thank you so much for the hospitality that your staff bestowed to us. Our recent visit just reaffirmed why we loved Hotel Harmony the last time we were there and gives us a reason come back again. We truly enjoyed what you have done with the hotel by maintaining an environmentally conscious atmosphere and balance. Your operations diligence and commitment to the environment and the local community should be a beacon of what other operations could follow. I believe you have definitely set up an operation that is environmentally sustainable and will keep in tune with what nature is supposed to be. Our experience and the exchanges we had with everyone at every level of your operation was top notch. This includes interactions with Maggie, Vivian, Katie, Gaby at the Health Center; Anthony, Bolivar, Kenneth and the Chefs at the restaurant (fantastic Avocado toast by the way); The hosts at the front desk - Esteban, Alexander, Sam and Irene. Thanks for your email and newsletter. My whole family loved Harmony. In fact, we loved just about everything about our stay in Nosara. I think it is almost certain that we will return someday. As much as we enjoyed and appreciated your eco-vision and sustainability measures, I think what really sets Harmony apart from other places is your consistently friendly and hospitable staff. Dear Michelle and Gerardo, I've just returned from a wonderful week at the Harmony Hotel. One of the biggest highlights for me was the Sustainability Tour with Gerardo. It was fascinating to see how the hotel operates in such a sustainable manner. I was certainly impressed and haven't stopped talking about your amazing green practices. Keep up the good work! It made me want to stay at the Harmony Hotel forever - I felt so good about patronizing accommodations that I knew were leaving little impact on the environment.
Gerardo's passion for sustainability was contagious and he was clearly knowledgeable about every green aspect of the hotel. He made the tour interesting and informative and I admire the work you're both doing. I hope to come back to the Harmony Hotel soon and explore the other Cayuga resorts too! We just returned from a 5 week working vacation in Costa Rica and finished our vacation with 2 nights in one of the bungalows at The Harmony Hotel. We came to the hotel a few weeks earlier on a weekend drive up the coast, and were so impressed and enchanted with the grounds, the rooms, the beach and the exotic menu that we decided to splurge and return. Upon our return, there were only the pricier bungalows left, and after a quick walk through town, nothing compared and we stayed 2 nights. We have only been married for 9 months, and this felt like a second honeymoon for us! The outdoor shower was the favorite memory of the whole trip...I think in 2 days we took over 4 showers, all of them outdoors and 2 in the pouring rain! The bath products provided were absolutely yummy and the towels and linens exquisite. We decided after a long walk in the rain and a sunset on the beach that we would definately return to Costa Rica again, and another longer stay at the Harmony Hotel is not even a question, it is a definate confirmation. Your staff at the desk and in the restaurant, the housekeepers and the gentleman that brings fresh towels at 9pm were all so friendly, and welcoming. Dear Harmony Staff: A short note to express our thanks and appreciation for the hospitality extended to my wife and me by you all during our recent stay. I might add the same on behalf of the family of my sister in law (the Evers), as they, too, had a wonderful time. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We were here for our honeymoon and Harmony was a perfect choice. Every member of the Staff was so friendly and helpful – they took every step possible to ensure a perfect stay. The grounds and the beach are beautiful, and we applaud your efforts for environmental sustainability.
