Juan Miguel Marin is an Ecuadorian multi-disciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. He visited Harmony as Artist in Residence after participating in the 2023 Costa Rica Design Week in San Jose. During his stay, Juan Miguel performed “Drawing Under the Influence”, an on-going series in which he is constantly swayed by meditative environmental soundscapes created with site-specific field-recordings, ambient sounds, and artifacts. Here we explore Juan Miguel"s artistic process, including the creation of the soundscape heard in the video, and the beautiful work on canvas that manifests the natural sounds and spirit of Nosara.
